RadiesseŽ is one of the longest lasting non-permanent FDA-approved fillers on the market today. Made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a gel, RadiesseŽ is injected to give immediate improvement of folds and wrinkles with effects lasting a year and sometimes more. Radiesse treatments also stimulate skin thickening that lasts when even the filler is gone. The materials in RadiesseŽ have been used safely for years in orthopedics and dental procedures.

RadiesseŽ is often used to improve the deeper folds such as the nasolabial folds (running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth) and the marionette lines (running from the corners of the mouth down to the jaw line). It's also a good filler choice for building up the volume of the cheeks, augmenting the chin and jaw line, and making a bumpy nose appear smooth (nonsurgrical rhinoplasty). Other areas of the body where RadiesseŽ can be used are in surgical defects to lift out depressions or scars or in the back of the hands to give them a youthful look.

A topical cream anesthetic is all that's usually required to make RadiesseŽ injections comfortable, and usually there is only minimal swelling and redness afterwards. As with any injection, bruising or rarely, infections, are possible side effects.
