What is Laser Vein Therapy?
Skinspirations uses the award winning Cutera Vantage Nd:YAG laser that combines the ideal laser wavelength with the most flexible parameters to deliver the best vascular laser system on the market. It treats a broad range of vessels from tiny red facial veins to spider veins on the legs quickly, safely, effectively, and with very little discomfort.

How does laser vein therapy work?
The laser works by delivering a pulse of energy that momentarily heats the blood inside the vein. This heat is enough to damage the vein walls which are then reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin's surface, where it should be.

What types of veins can be treated by vein therapy?
The Vantage system can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. Small, facial veins can be treated quickly often in a single treatment. Spider veins and moderate size blue leg veins can also be treated with excellent results. Knotty or large varicose veins are not good candidates. A careful evaluation with Dr. Elliott will help you determine which vessels can be treated and the best course of treatment.

How many treatments of laser vein therapy will I need?
Often, patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient but someone with a lot of spider veins on both legs usually requires at least three sessions to get maximal improvement.

Do the laser vein treatments hurt?
Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece but no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required. The Vantage laser tip is cooled which helps provide comfort. Most people who have had sclerotherapy or cauterization of veins in the past report that Vantage laser vein therapy is much more tolerable.

What happens after my vein treatment?
Following your treatment, some redness over the veins treated may occur, usually lasting only a day or two.  Any local swelling that results typically lasts less than 24 hours. Rarely with larger veins there may be some bruising. Rarely, when larger veins are treated, a tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks up to months following treatment, similar to the pigment seen with sclerotherapy.

When will I see results?
Most patients find that facial veins are gone within a day or two and that most leg veins shrink within two to six weeks of treatment. With the larger greenish veins of the legs, your results may not be apparent for up to 3 months. Over time, it is possible for new veins to appear but these too can be removed with the Vantage laser system.
